Focus Surgery's transrectal probe houses the custom HIFU/Imaging transducer in its tip. This proprietary transducer design allows the physician to utilize therapy and imaging in a real-time environment. The Probe contains specialized motors which, under Sonablate® 500 computer control, precisely position the HIFU focal spot in the treatment locations defined by the physician. A sensor monitors the temperature of the probe tip near the rectal wall for safety. The bi-plane ultrasound images display accurate anatomical positioning, tissue targeting and real-time monitoring during treatment. Both transverse (sector) and longitudinal (linear) ultrasound images are provided on the same display. The probes come with two focal length transducers: 3.0cm and 4.0cm for total prostate ablation. Prostates as large as 40gm can be easily accommodated by the HIFU probe. The probe is rigidly held in place during the treatment using the articulated probe arm. This device firmly attaches to the operating room table and provides the flexibility needed to accurately align the probe with the prostate. After insertion of the probe into the patient and selection of optimal anatomic position, based on ultrasound imaging, the articulated arm is locked and holds the probe in a fixed position for the duration of the treatment. The articulating probe arm is a universal design that is adjustable to any table. Specifications Dimensions - Probe tip 32mm diameter; 11mm at the neck (for rectal comfort) Weight - 6.9 lbs
