Sonachill™

The Sonachill™ mobile pump/chiller unit is controlled by the Sonablate^® 500 system. The Sonachill™ continuously chills and circulates degassed water around the HIFU transducer, located in the probe tip, to ensure good coupling of acoustic energy into the prostate (for imaging and therapy), while maintaining low rectal wall temperatures for enhanced treatment safety.  The circulating cold water also helps to remove heat from the transducer surface during HIFU operation.

The water temperature is set by the user and is usually set to 18°C.

The Sonablate^® is an investigational device limited by Federal Law to investigational use in the United States.
